Winemaking
At Schulz Cellars, we believe that less is always more. To quote an old cliche, "it all begins in the vineyard" is an under statment to our belief that staying true to the vineyard site is key to producing great wine. Making the right picking decisions to bring in grapes that are at the prefect ripness and in good condition enables us to make wine with minimal handling and intervention. Our goal is to produce wines that are the best expresion of the vineyard terrior and micro climates.
The 2008 harvest has been a great success and the vintage looks to be another spectacular year from Napa Valley. All of our grapes came in pretty much on schedule with everything being picked between the last week of September and the first week of October. Unfortunately, the Lampyridae Vineyard on Mount Veeder was hit hard by frost in the spring so we are lookiing at about half of our normal production on the Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon in the 2008 vintage.
